Andrenid bee - Panurginus - male

Andrenid bee - Panurginus - Male
San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, California, USA
March 31, 2017
Very odd bee captured in a blue vane trap. Resembles Calliopsis, but I have never seen an all-black one before. It keys out to Panurginus but doesn't look like one to me at all. The mandibles are enormous for a bee its size. #3435
