Norm Woodley identified this fly as Myiopharus doryphorae (Riley) based on these digital images. This is the first species of Myiopharus on BugGuide and only the third state (after Kansas and Utah) to submit the genus.
Two of these flies came out of Leptinotarsa haldemani pupae reared by Jason T. Botz from larvae found on Lycium sp. on the side of Hwy 83. Coordinates: 31.8894, -110.6691. See:
