Size: 8mm
Found dead in a litter sample. The blue around the yellow patches is much more obvious is real life.

Nice catch!
Paratyndaris chamaeleonis known from the Brownsville area. This is a neat genus. Same subfamily as Acmaeodera but different tribe. How and where did you collect it? I have one specimen but I'd like to get some more. It's known hosts are: Acacia greggii, Diospyros texana, Ebenopsis ebano and Parkinsonia aculeate. Found only in Texas in the States and in Mexico.

As a side note, you can't see the scutellum of Acmaeodera.

Beetles are the bonus find!
Hi,

I found this dead beetle in a litter sample I collected to inventory microsnails. It was collected in the Voshell Unit of Las Palomas WMA, just off (north) of Dockberry Road and east of Minnesota Ave. in Brownsville. Based on the snail fauna and vegetation, I'd say this is probably about as close to 'natural' conditions that can be found in that area anymore. At least a couple (and maybe all) of the host plants can be found on that tract. Happy hunting!
