Lively Mermiria Grasshopper - Mermiria picta - male

Lively Mermiria Grasshopper - Mermiria picta - Male
Carvers Creek State Park, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
September 1, 2007
I'm 99.9% sure this is Mermiria picta. It has the middorsal stripe (ruling out M. bivittata) and it lacks the thin white streak on the base of the forewing (ruling out M. intertexta). Also, from the right angle, you can see additional ridges on the pronotum.

Lively Mermiria
looks good. Both images moved from Mermiria to new species page The dorsolateral ridges on the pronotum are apparently diagnostic.
