Madera Canyon in Santa Rita Mountains, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
May 27, 2017
This individual and many others of the same species were found near water edge in stream bed off of the Proctor path. Plenty of prey in and around the stream, including other flies. Don't recognize this prey item, possibly a mayfly.

Female Stichopogon sp.?

Moved
Moved from Stichopogon.

Stichopogon catulus female. P
Stichopogon catulus female. Prey item a fulgoroid planthopper (possibly Cixiidae).

Thanks

Hmm
not trifasciatus unless highly atypical. We don't have an arenicola shot here. And I have never seen catulus. Not fragilis or colei though.
