Did you preserve this specimen in alcohol??
Please say yes! Mockford has been intending to revise the whole Myopsocidae family, but has not gotten around to it. He is now 91 years old and unfortunately this much needed revision may never happen. I wish some billionare (sp?) would fund taxonomic research. There is very little information on myopsocids in the western U.S. If you have the specimen you could decide whether it is Myopsocus or Lichenomima.

I lost it!
I know that is disappointing. I actually had a similar problem during this period. I was helping photograph a native California plant genus for a brilliant man who was going to publish a major work on the subject. He died before its completion. I felt terrible

But I can try again. I am a full on flake, but your situation resonates with me. I am pretty sure I am still seeing this species.

I have sent you an E-mail. I hope you take my suggestion to open a free Flickr account because commenting on any photo I have posted is the only sure way of keeping contact with me. I'm retired and photography is my passion. I can go weeks or months without checking my email. But you can bet I read all comments on my photos!

I believe I might have the above species on my fence right now! My old habit would be to attempt an unambiguous photo. But I think you are saying a specimen in hand is much better. Or worse, that you are a better photographer than I :-0.

I can try to Shanghai one. Probably I'll end up crushing it in the process. But there are questions that need answers.

Note: I took the liberty of moving a new specimen directly to Myopsocidae page, and attempt to save you the hassle. If I am wrong then you have the same amount of work to move it elsewhere. See it here: .
