Mycetaulus costalis
has the apical spot divided like this!

Or undescribed species?
According to McAlpine (1977) and the CJAI paper there are undescribed species in the Mycetaulus bipunctatus group. The key by McAlpine says "entire anterior border of wing fumose" for M. costalis, which I don't see here.

Fumose?
I don't know that word. Does it mean smokey colored? And I have a hard time following keys because if that is what it means that could describe a whole spectrum of colors. The color is variable, but I'd say not un-fumose. I will have to defer to your expertise.

Thanks for your response. I did look up fumose in the glossary and did not see it defined. Ah, Merriam-Webster's Dictionary confirms my guess that it means smokey. (I based my original guess on fumar, Spanish for, to smoke).

Thank you, Chris! I will request a page....
