Bombus impatiens morph with reddish-brown hair - Bombus impatiens - female

Bombus impatiens morph with reddish-brown hair - Bombus impatiens - Female
Cold Spring, Putnam County, New York, USA
August 29, 2017
Size: 11 mm
Is this a red-belted bumble bee? Or something else?

This female bumblebee is about 11 cm in length. Its abdominal bands are colored as follows: T-1 pale yellow; T-2, T-3, T-4 reddish-brown; T-5 and T-6 black or very dark brown. Its thorax is covered almost entirely with pale hairs (without an obvious black spot or bar).

The brown bands are an odd color – sort of a maroon-brown -- not the usual rust-orange of B. ternarius and B. rufocinctus we’ve seen around here.

The bee was feeding on yellow aster.
