Pteromalus microps? Reared from toadflax gall - female

Pteromalus microps? Reared from toadflax gall - Female
Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland, USA
August 10, 2017
Size: 3 mm
I collected several galls from common toadflax (Linaria vulgaris), and dissected out the pupating wasp on 9 August, and the next morning she was up and about. I also successfully reared several weevils that appear to be Rhinusa antirrhini, from the same galls. Pteromalus microps is the only pteromalid I can find any record of parasitizing R. antirrhini in the US, and these wasps seem to match the description in Volenberg and Krauth (1996). [Species name was originally misspelled, thanks to Ross Hill for the correction!]

Pteromalid…
It seems that the host, Rhinusa antirrhini, is apparently still described as Gymnetron antirrhini in much of the literature. We will assume that the chalcid you mentioned is Pteromalus microps, rather than macrops. It appears that the first record of this association was found in Wisconsin in 1996. Will ask Dr. Heydon if he would like to comment on your images.

See reference here.

Thanks!
Good catch on the typo in the name! I went with Rhinusa over Gymnetron to match what's used in the guide, but you're right, the literature seems a little confused on that point. Thanks! :)
