Fals Potato Beetle Larva - Leptinotarsa juncta

Fals Potato Beetle Larva - Leptinotarsa juncta
Elysburg, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA
September 5, 2007
Not sure what to make of these. I thought they were slugs at first but apparently, they are not. Are they some type of beetle?

Thanks
for the info, folks. I have taken shots of several false potato beetles in the same area. I don't know what the plant was that they were on. It has a spear shaped leaf and small berries. Not sure that will help but images here in the guide support that insect. Thanks again.

They might be
ladybug pupae. No clue as to species, though. I'm sure some of the experts can provide more info. Neat shots!

Thanks
Thanks for the info. That gives me a place to start looking while I wait.

Larva of false potato beetle?
See guide page. What sort of host plant are they eating?

Thanks for the help, Domingo!
I guess I was off with the ladybug thing, but I knew they were beetle pupae of some sort. Are the Chrysomelidae considered a sister taxon (or at least very closely related) to Coccinellidae? It would certainly make sense, given the similar pupal morphology. Thanks again!
