Forewing length varies from 17 to 21 mm.
The forewings are streaked lengthwise, have a fairly large claviform spot, and yellow/buff shading in the reniform and orbicular spots. Forewings of males are usually more reddish brown while the females are more silver/gray. (1)
Occurs from souther BC to southern California with a disjunct population in Michigan.
Dry coniferous forests.
Adults have been found from July until October.
Immature stages are poorly known.
