I found this spider tucked inside of a funnel web constructed in a loop formed from a tall blade of grass (see second photo). Not sure what it was, I pulled on the blade of grass from both sides of the web, and the spider fell to the road surface below, where I took this photo. Sorry, I did not take a measurement, however, I estimate the body length to be about 5-8 mm, excluding legs.

Looks to be
an Orb Weaver, genus Larinioides. Maybe the folded grass contained her egg sac
