leafhopper - Tremulicerus fulgidus

leafhopper - Tremulicerus fulgidus
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
August 30, 2007

First U.S. record!
This is the only one I've found so far. If I see another one, I'll certainly collect it.

Idiocerus fulgidus
This appears to be the first US record of an introduced European leafhopper, first recorded from this continent in Newfoundland (1977) and now widespread in the Maritime provinces. It feeds on Lombardy poplar and also native "black" poplars. Specimens would be needed to confirm this identification.
