syrphid fly ?? - Platycheirus - female syrphid fly ?? - Platycheirus

Indeed
A female syrphid, and this is again a female Platycheirus sp.!
Greetings

Thank you Gerard
I'll move it to the proper page.

Pretty sure it's a syrphid and likely female.
Gary, I'd seen this post earlier but was hesitant to comment. Wing venation looks like syrphid. So do postures. Abdomen seems metallic, and I don't think I've ever seen that in a syrphid.

Metallic abdomen
The abdomen is more of a metallic gold color rather than the yellow that I'm used to seeing in Syrphids. I see some resemblance to your photos of Platycheirus sp. at http://www.dbc.uci.edu/~pjbryant/biodiv/diptera/Platycheirus.htm; what do you think Ron?

Certainly looks similar
Abdomen shape is a bit different, but that could be gender. I don't remember mine as being metallic and found that feature striking on your photo. Hopefully, you'll get an expert opinion on this.

This one looks closer, but it's hairy.
Stripes are still a bit different, plus this isn't IDed yet.

You might check to see if other in this genus - Hadromyia - look like yours. We have next to no info here.
