Male - Dung Fly
This looks like a male Cordilura varipes. (eastern?) The females have a wider eye-gap, a wider abdomen in the middle and more pointy at the tip.

Thanks! Saw what I believe to be this also on Sep 6 (Ontario) on goldenrod. Was wondering what is was.
