Genus Scudderia?
Any other views? To distinguish furcata and septentrionalis, (assuming it is Scudderia), it would be useful to see the end of the abdomen a bit more clearly.

No I didn't get a better shot
No I didn't get a better shot. When I first saw it I wondered if it was injured because its abdomen seemed to end abruptly. So maybe septentrionalis.
I also just added another picture
from two months ago
. I assume it's the same species, just less developed. I didn't see katydids anywhere else this year, but I see them every time I go to this one field.

The other one is a early female
while this is a male adult. The abdomen differences are for males only, sadly.
