Oncideres rhodosticta? - Oncideres rhodosticta - Male Female
Nogales, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
September 11, 2017
I didn't expect this many beetles. Counted 57 of these beetles on the sheet! There were no other longhorn species. Not so good for the mesquite trees around...
Attracted to mercury vapor and ultraviolet lights.
Coordinates: 31.335360, -110.938017

Mid-September is always the peak!
sometimes even October

Moved
Moved from Long-horned Beetles.

Did you see a lot of girdled branches?

I haven't checked the mesquite branches yet
but it would be a good place to look to document the immature stages.
This morning, I learned that some people in Arizona call this beetle "the velcro bug" because once they grab your clothing they are not easy to dislodge. Usually, they are the only ones remaining on my blacklighting sheet after I shake it repeatedly.
