Geolycosa? - Geolycosa fatifera - Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA September 4, 2007 Size: ~17mm
Thanks to Jeff for the suggestion to get her out of the burrow. Once I coaxed her out of the burrow, I measured it; 14mm diameter at the widest x ~50mm deep with a turret of just under 2mm. Though the turret wasn't as tall as seen in some of the images here and elsewhere, it was obvious. Made of dried grass, sand and webbing. The spider measured out to be just a bit over 17mm and the widest part of the abdomen was ~6.5mm and the widest part of the cephalothorax ~5.5mm. Of course these measurements aren't perfect as I didn't use calipers.
