treehopper - Telamona stephani

treehopper - Telamona stephani
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
September 8, 2007

Moved
Moved from Telamona salvini.

Telamona n. sp.
This is an undescribed species that Matt Wallace will be describing in the future. It differs from the Southeastern "salvini" types, which themselves are likely also a new species. See here for "salvini" type: (1).

It showed up at the porch light
so I'm not sure what tree it came from. The house is in a white pine/oak woodland with a few maples, poplars, and cherries, with a swamp out back.

Telamona salvini
This is a rather rare species. I note that you also found a dead specimen. Can you tell what tree it is from?

Tom,
I am increasingly impressed with your diversity of bugs and superb photos. You have some of the most beautiful hoppers!

Thank you Lynette,
Most of the ones I'm photographing lately are at the porch light like this one, and a few others from the yard. One advantage to this method is I'm not getting ticks on me:-)
