Size: About 2"
I believe this is a Cicada, but when I did a Search to verify, none looked quite like this.

Looks like N. canicularis
It is likely canicularis, but there is some overlap with the very similar species, linnei & pruinosus. Northern populations of all three are often smaller and darker.

fresh out of the nymph stage is why is looks ghostly. it will green up
