Paragordius
Harvesting a few grasshoppers (Melanoplus femurrubrum) to feed to my 'pet' Argiope, then retrieving them from the refrigerator the next morning to toss into its newly-built orb, I found, for the third (fourth?) time in my life one of these parasites, along with its now-deceased host. Amazing that all that length fits into that relatively small space!

Ken, Thanks so much for the ID. I had no idea where to go on this strange creature! I just felt that someone who knows these insects so well might have an idea. I know non-arthropods are not covered by BugGuide.
