Ammophila Mimic - Systropus macer

Ammophila Mimic - Systropus macer
Doddridge County, West Virginia, USA
September 8, 2007
I'm stumped...this appears to be in the Conopidae family. I can't find any in the guide exactly with this coloring and the extraordinarily long back legs. Don't know the size but it was very small, narrow, and wispy...barely visible to me and was found in our mixed flower garden.

Bombylid
Systropus macer. Ammophila mimics.

Bombylid...no wonder
I was lost! At least the info page said they looked like the family I was exploring...and I did see the halteres so wasn't totally fooled by this mimic.

Thank you Herschel, moved to Systropus genus as there is no macer page.
