Unknown Louisiana Spider - Dolomedes

Unknown Louisiana Spider - Dolomedes
Alexandria, Louisiana, USA
May 31, 2017
Hello to all,

I'm new here in the hope that some of you can help with identifying a spider I photographed this summer in Louisiana (area around Fullerton Mill outside Alexandria). I haven't been able to find out what kind of spide it is even though it has some very characteristic orange markings on the head. It was seen sitting on a tree standing in water close to a Six-spotted fishing spider. It was roughly the same size as the fishing spider.

Dolomedes triton
Hi Simon,
This is an interesting find!! I have never seen a fishing spider this coloration. This looks to be D. triton, a male. The female has the six spots and is probably the reason this fellow was coming over.
Have a great day,

Ah, thanks! So it was a fishi
Ah, thanks! So it was a fishing spider - it was driving me a little crazy ;)
