Exposed Bird-dropping Moth? - Ponometia candefacta

Exposed Bird-dropping Moth? - Ponometia candefacta
Angelica, Allegany County, New York, USA
September 8, 2007
Believe ID is correct. Exposed Bird-dropping Moth - Acontia aprica 9136

This will allow "data" updating to show September flight in NY. Would like to check female but not to sure here. 8-)

Moved to Ponometia candefacta
Moved from Acontiinae.

Tentative ID. I still do not know how to be certain with members of this subfamily, however, it does seem to match the description for Ponometia candefacta. Also, no images of either sex of Tarache aprica, formerly in Acontia, at either BOLD or MPG show a dark smudge along the costal margin between the reniform and orbicular spots. This pattern seems to eliminate much of Acontia and Tarache.

Moved from Moths.

I'd have guessed Tarachidia candefacta. Take a look at all the examples in Tarachidia and see what you think.
