Arizona Moth - Hydroeciodes serrata

Arizona Moth - Hydroeciodes serrata
Twilight Road on Mt. Graham near 7500 foot, Graham County, Arizona, USA
September 14, 2017
On sheet with UV black light. Placed here by range according to MPG image and map. How is it not a Papaipmena?? Going by separation of Hodges numbers, apparently not even closely related.

Hydroeciodes
Interesting, Steve, how did you conclude serrata? The more I stare at both of them, the less I can see any telling differences. The only things that could sway my opinion/guess/wishful thought in the end were the ranges as currently described, and Bruce Walsh's Moths of SE Arizona image from the nearby Huachucas which he is calling repleta (he posts currently no serrata images). Can't find any records from Arizona anywhere so far for serrata, though it wouldn't be surprising it should be there based on the several Texas and New Mexico records.

Dissection
If you find another, you might consider getting it dissected. I have male genitalia images of both that I will be posting on MPG.

Hydroeciodes serrata
Jim Vargo and Don Lafontaine had an email exchange about these two species and I was copied. The bottom line is that Jim's image of repleta was moved to serrata and replaced with a correctly identified specimen which was dissected. It is less red and rougher. The veins are more evident. Yours is red and smoother. The differences are subtle but consistent. They both have long series of these moths but only just now had conclusive genitalia evidence. I ran yours by Jim and he felt that this was likely serrata.
