I found this Nemoria sp. this morning. I think it's a Red-bordered Emerald Moth (Nemoria lixaria). Can you confirm? Thanks!

end of the road?
Based on John Gruber's comments below, he was leaning N. lixaria. Is it not possible to get beyond Nemoria based on this photo? If not, what should I be looking for in the future or does it require dissection?

Nemoria, St. Mary's County
Hi Jane - looking closely at your photograph of this Maryland
Nemoria
I feel fairly confident that it is indeed
Nemoria lixaria
. We maintain a website of emerald moth species of US - you can see that here -
http://moths.friendscentral.org/
and have done a lot of work with
Nemoria lixaria
- pages on that species are here:
http://moths.friendscentral.org/nemoria-lixaria.html
. I've collected lots of
lixaria
right across the bay in the area around the Pocomoke River.
Nemoria lixaria
and
Nemoria bistriaria
can be hard to tell apart in areas where they overlap, but given the color of the wings, the bright white spots, the strong red checkering of the wing fringe and the coastal Chesapeake location, I think it's a fair bet that this is indeed
lixaria

Beyond genus?
The Maryland Biodiversity Project requires an expert to validate ID and you are in the expert category. Is there anything more I can try to find in my pictures that would move you to declare this Nemoria lixaria so I can submit it? Many thanks for your work!
