Simulium - female

Simulium - Female
Croghan, Lewis County, New York, USA
September 9, 2017
This got tangled up in someone's hair, and once I realized what it was I made them stand there until I had extracted the fly. Seems really late to be seeing a black fly in the northeast. No others seen over two days in the area.

Moved
Moved from Flies.

Some Simulium have several generations per year.
