Limnichidae? - Enneboeus marmoratus

Limnichidae? - Enneboeus marmoratus
Noe Valley, San Francisco County, California, USA
September 26, 2017
Size: 3 mm
Found at lights at night. I've been finding this sort of beetle for weeks, but finally collected a couple. This is a live image of one of them - any ideas? I believe Boris Buche thought they might be limnichids... I will try to add some specimen photos soon.

Hmmm...
The antennae and general appearance aren't quite right for Limnichidae. This looks rather suspiciously like an archeocrypticid. Definitely deserves a ventral shot, if possible, plus any other views you're able to manage. If my suspicions are correct, this would be a new family record for California, likely a recent arrival especially considering the locality.

Thanks -
added a bunch of specimen photos. I can take more angles if needed. I'm also happy to mail the specimens to you or to drop them off at CAS.

Archeocrypticidae
Without a doubt. Obviously distinct from the southeastern species, too. I would be very interested to see them.

Great -
thanks for your help - how interesting! You can email me and let me know the address and I'll send them to you in the mail - my email address is on my profile page.
