plain skipper - Panoquina ocola

plain skipper - Panoquina ocola
Powhatah, Powhatan County, Virginia, USA
September 27, 2014
There were a lot of other butterflies out the day in field behind butterfly bush, many on the butterfly bush were damaged as it was September. This skipper does not seem damaged, but time of year may mean it lost some of its significant markings. Photo was taken a little after noon. Weather was pleasant, sunny.

Ocola Skipper
note long forewing which is characteristic of Panoquina. Ocola tends to have faint below and is a strays to VA.

Moved from ID Request.

Thank you, Cliff Ivy. The long front wing was unique to this little butterfly. I appreciate having a name since I am trying to put together a photo record of butterflies from Belmead property in Powhatan, VA.

Thank you, Bkripto, I did look at your suggestion -- APPRECIATED your putting the address -- but on looking at the ocala I could see that was more like the one I entered -- the long front wing
