This looks to me like it might be a syrphus ribesii. Would appreciate your advice and guidance. Thank you.

Syrphus for sure. I think I can see hairs on the lower part of left eye and the lower front of right eye in a zoomed image which would make this Syrphus torvus .... female. The almost totally black frons fits torvus too.

Thank you for your help in id'ing this beautiful fly. When I zoom in, I do see the hairs on the eye.
