Maybe Pale Western Cutworm moth - Agrotis orthogonia - male

Maybe Pale Western Cutworm moth - Agrotis orthogonia - Male
Mercur Canyon, Tooele County, Utah, USA
October 7, 2017
There were tons of these white moths in the canyon. Had to lower the lighting on the camera to see the pattern on the moths. Look similar to Ipsilon Darts but white (especially in flight - maybe Agrotis orthogonia? I'm submitting a second photo - not the same moth but same species.

Moved
Moved from Agrotis.

Correct date is October 7, 2017
Not October 5. I fixed it.

Original date was correct...
Nicky and I are not the same person, you know - she is my sister-in-law. We went out on October 5, not October 7. I have two separate cameras with date verification. You can leave it on the 7th if you want, it's only 2 days difference, but it was correct to begin with. I make more date or location mistakes on Bugguide than I care to admit (sigh), but this wasn't one.

I noticed that
But the plant is the same in both images. Look at the stick below the moth and some of the flowers. Unless, of course, you found the same individual on the same flower two days apart. I can't get the data from this image, but I checked the other one. The data say the photo is from October 7 at 21:44. Unless, of course, that's when the image was imported. One of the dates must be wrong. At any rate, the difference isn't so important, as you said; I just wanted to resolve the inconsistency. I'm almost certain, though, that the photos were taken seconds or maybe minutes apart.

Yes, together
As I said, "we" were there. We were together, Nicky and I (you can ask her). I never said it was a different day - it was the same day. We were shooting the same moth while we were standing side by side. Together. I was shooting with two different cameras that day with photos that show the original data as October 5. Obviously one of us had the wrong date on the camera(s); or, as I'm sure you know, dates change when pictures are cropped or edited and saved again.

I see
For some reason I though you said you went on both dates. Sorry for the confusion. You two can work out the dates as you see fit. You obviously know better than I do when you went to Mercur.
