Do you remember where this plant was? It would still be nice to nail down the species ID... finishing the big beetle paper is one of my top priorities for this fall.

 
I sent out word to the NC rar
I sent out word to the NC rare plant list, and so far, at least two people identified it as L. bicolor. So to the best of my knowledge (based upon my keying it out and others confirming that ID), it is L. bicolor.

I have sent photos to the rare plant list, in hopes of confirming that way, as I want to be sure.

Adult emerged some time in the past month...
If you get a chance to confirm the host ID, that would be great.

I'll see what I can do. I will try to visit the site in the next few weeks. I may wait until mid-late September, as I doubt it has bloomed by now. I suspect that my tentative ID may be wrong.
