Big tarantula hawk mimic beetle, side view - Stenelytrana gigas

This beast cruised into "Josh's Diner", the bait station outside my office window. I took it for a Tarantula Hawk at first, then got suspicious and looked through binoculars, then went outside and took photos. Thanks to UT-Austin dragonfly guru John Abbott for identifying it for me, after I posted a verbal description on the TX-Ento listserv.

Neat! Interesting creature.
Certainly looks like Pepsis. Wish we had these beetles here.
