Small black wasp with spindle-shaped anterior part of thorax - Ampulex canaliculata

Size: 1 cm
Found on a conifer, where it looked like it was patrolling. Initially I thought it might be a pompilid, but I'm leaning towards Dryinidae. Maybe Dryinus?? But I've looked through that genus and the match isn't 100%, but perhaps the differences are just sexual dimorphism. I'd be grateful for any hints.

Moved from Ants, Bees, Wasps and Sawflies.

Must be it.

Ampulex canaliculata?
Seems like a good visual match, but happy to be corrected.

Ampulex?
This was suggested by Susanna Heideman on iNaturalist. Seems like a better fit to me.
