Porch light visitor at dawn. Can these be reliably sexed?

Bob, the female has bushy pencils, while the male's is rather skimpy. The extremes are easy to determine, but the "in-betweens" not so, and best not try.
This one would be a female, and this pne, a male.

Thank you Robert. That's really very helpful information that I couldn't find anywhere else. I can now see that my specimen is an "in between".
