I am sorry I messed up your very useful Undersides page.

This is a long story. I first identified my specimens as Taenogrammia tenebrosata after studying the Ferguson and comparing his descriptions. Mainly because of the lines on the wings, not dots, and my male dissections. When I sent on to BOLD it was placed in a separate BIN whose outgroup was Taeniogramma mendicata, so I changed mine to that name. You can check me out at BIN BOLD:ADO8736. It contains only 3 specimens, all mine. BOLD:ACG0767 T.tenebrosata (4 specimens) and BOLD:AAZ0655 T. mendicata (2 specimens) do NOT match mine. I have done NCHI Blast studies and mine are 95% off of 1 BIN and 93% off or the other. Mine All BLAST within 2 letters of each other.

It was Dave Wagner who suggested I probably have a new species, so I moved mine all to Genus level. Additional dissections have produced some small differences in the males and a very consistent large sigma in the female bursa that is not well shown in the only Ferguson Female genitalia shown.

Since there is so LITTLE comparative DNA for T. mendicata, after I saw his recent article in the Southern Lepidopterist, I asked Kelley Richers to send me some T. mendicata legs to bar code in my next microplate. I am hoping that will help clarify things further.
