One can be forgiven...
First, I am so glad Ray is helping with the ichneumons! Second, you can be forgiven for being duped:-) Insect mimicry can be so convincing and confounding as to make life difficult for anyone unfamiliar with a particular group. I 'still' get fooled in the field now and then, until I get the critter into a jar at least:-) Keep up the great work.

Ichneumonidae
Not a Thread-waised wasp. This is definitely an ichneumonid. You can just barely make out the wing venation enough to see that the costal and subcostal veins are fused (i.e. the thick vein margining the wing on the stigma side is not one vein, but two fused ones). I'm just going on gestalt here, but this looks like the subfamily Campopleginae.
