Lasioptera - male

Lasioptera - Male
East Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA
April 30, 2017
Size: ~0.5 mm
In early June 2016, someone handed me a couple of Amphibolips oak apple galls at a bioblitz--bumpy ones, like this:

17 gall midge larvae emerged from it and I put them in a jar of soil. At the end of April 2017, three adult midges emerged: two Camptoneuromyia and one male Lasioptera (det. R. J. Gagné, who noted that a group of Lasioptera spp. are successors in cynipid galls, but females needed for identification).
