Hemyda aurata ?? - Hemyda aurata - Male Female
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA

Size: ~10mm
Saw these two on a live oak on a steep hill, couldn't get any closer without falling down the hill. I think they are the same as my earlier posts: & , & they sure look to me like Hemyda aurata .

In a vaccuum of expert opinion, an amateur ventures one.
Hemyda aurata, I'd agree. This is a very distinctive fly, body and antennae in particular. Yours seems to match on every point, including those precious light colored feet, which seem to vary by gender.

So fellow fly buffs, I've stuck my neck out. Any endorsements? Reprisals? C'mon!
