Spittlebug - Aphrophora cribrata

Spittlebug - Aphrophora cribrata
Nantucket, Nantucket County, Massachusetts, USA
July 30, 2017

Moved
Moved from Aphrophora.

Synonym of A. parallela
according to this database. What are you using for a taxonomic reference?

A. cribrata
Your comment spurred me to reach out to a spittlebug expert. He said that yes, A. cribrata and A. parallela are separate but that confusion exists with regards to taxonomy because at one point A. cribrata was known as A. parallela. However, the Aphrophora with nympsh on pines in the east are A. cribrata, and the ones with nymphs on spruce and tamarack are A. parallela.

Okay, thanks!
