Cecidomyiidae on Mountain Mint - Lasioptera lorrainae
Mike's Road Ditch Prairie, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
July 7, 2017
July 7, 2017: collected galls on Mountain Mint, Pycnanthemum virginianum, in a prairie remnant. Shipped most of the galls to Dr. R. Gagné who replied: "the larvae appear to be a Lasioptera ... and similar to a species we have here that forms a gall on twiglets of Pycnanthemum.
October 6, 2017: gall was covered in fungus so opened it to fly larvae, only one of which was alive
May 13, 2018: 1 live wasp
