6010995 grasshopper - Nomotettix parvus - Female
Willow Springs, Cook County, Illinois, USA
August 4, 2006
Size: ~5/8?

I got'a go with N. parvus on this one
There are too many "don't fit's" for N. cristatus, didn't mean to put it there, and just noticed the mistake.

Moved from Nomotettix cristatus.

Moved from Pygmy Grasshoppers.

Nomotettix
Took me a while to "click" on what this (probably) is. A side view, and I would have gotten it to more quickly. I have always lived too far west to see many of these. It appears it might still be a nymph though, and I may have it wrong. It may be Nomotettix cristatus, Nomotettix parvus, perhaps Tetrix ornata, or another.

Moved

Juvenile grouse locust.
Aka pygmy grasshopper. Note how the pronotum extends over almost the entire abdomen. Family is Tetrigidae.
