one tough customer
I collected Echmepteryx hageni here in San Marcos, TX (12/3/08). We are in the midst of a severe drought and this past summer was brutally hot. These psocids must have a clever strategy of water conservation.

Moved from Echmepteryx.

Echmepteryx hageni
Another good find and ID. Since you found it in New Hampshire this would be Echmepteryx hageni; Family Lepidopsocidae. It is the only Echmepteryx in the North East. What an unusually looking Psocoptera, if it did not have a head I would think it a micro moth.

John and Jane
It sure does look like the same genus as Perry's Echmepteryx.
Thanks for the help!

yes
a barklouse, Psocoptera.

Thanks Brad
The head is typical for barklouse, but the wings reminded me of a microcaddis*fly.

Reminds us of Perry's
barklouse under Lepidopsocidae ยป Echmepteryx

Who is "Perry?"
Is this a reference to a website? Just curious, I want to learn more about psocids.

Sorry, we we're referring to our own
BugGuide Perry, Perry Babin whose image on BugGuide was recently ID'd by Philip Careless, see . Philip is the one you should contact as he has recently organized most of the BugGuide barklice images.
