Can't find anything to match this. Closest guess would be Exoprosopa, but not a match.

Bee Fly
This might be Anthrax larrea. (south-western) The range includes Texas, but this would be the first BUGGUIDE post from there. Notice the pale hair patches on the rims of the abdominal segments, the golden coloring of the apical segments, the thin, dark dorsal line, etc.
The wing veins check out, as far as I can tell and they are very unlike all of the others in this genus.
