Size
Mediums-sized, nymphs of most species ~10 mm, those of some up to 15-17 mm
Identification
Nymph: gills on abdominal segment 2 operculate, quadrate, fused medially; mesonotum of most species with distinct lobe anterolaterally
Range
Holarctic & Oriental(2); in NA, eastern(1)
Habitat
Found mostly in mid-sized to large rivers; often associated with root mats, submerged woody debris, or macrophytes.
Season
Nymphs found mostly in Spring to early Summer
Food
Thought to be collector-gatherers
Life Cycle
North American populations probably univoltine
