One of the Symmerista?

John and Jane,

I think this is the one you asked me to comment on. I think it is misidentified.

This is the only one identified from far West Texas and Dave Wagner's new book says the range of S. albifrons is further East in Texas.

Further, I believe that only dissection or DNA can distinguish my new Symmerista solistella species, so I cannot place it there.

I have ONLY seen it in October, so that would make me think that S. solistella is a possibility that we cannot confirm.

Yup!
And in this part of Texas, this is Symmerista albifrons. I never saw one before. Thanks you very much for the ID.

Dave,
Where did you get this identification? I have now sent three to BOLD for testing and they have all been identified as the same species (not S. albifrons), but Dave Wagner is still not sure about the ID. I had one tested as S. albifrons from Schulenburg, but he doubted that ID of mine prior to this recent testing. Apparently this Genus does not test very true.
