Help identify grayish black worms imbedded in carpet (NOT carpet beetle larvae, look nothing alike)
My mother has tiny thread-like worms all in her carpet. They vary from gray to black in color and I'm guessing about 1/2" to 1" long. They are embedded all in her carpet and are leaving black stains/spots all over the carpet. They ARE NOT carpet beetle larvae, unless there are different kinds. These look like tiny grayish black earth worms. I tried to pull one out with a pair of tweezers to get a photo, but they are almost impossible to pull out. They shy away from light very quickly and you can see them disappear deeper into the carpet, away from the light. Any idea what they are, and should I be worried?
