Beetles? - Elasmostethus cruciatus

Size: Abt 1 cm each
About a half dozen of these beetle-looking 'bugs' were all gathered within a few centimeters of each other on these leaves. I couldn't find similar 'bugs' on any other vegetation around the same area or even on other parts of this same plant. Any ID?

Not a beetle, but a bug
Looks like something in the Genus Elasmostethus, in the guide here
