Fly Blowing

Fly Blowing "Bubble"?
48.163552N 53.966826W (WGS84), Clarenville, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland/Labrador, Canada
September 19, 2007
Size: 8mm body length
What is the "bubble" that this fly is blowing? When my flash went off, the fly immediately burst the bubble. It looked through the lens as though it went back into his mouth. What is this all about? An ID on the fly would be great too. Thanks.
