I don't know how this ID was made. Llano County is well outside of the expected range of gemella (primarily in the Lower Rio Grande Valley) and Rindge's original description(1) of gemella indicates that the "upper surface of the wings is sllightly darker [than defectaria] and [has] more prominent darker brown shade lines" adjacent to the AM and PM lines. That certainly isn't the case here. I rather suspect that this is yet one of the several *other* species of Iridopsis known to occur in Texas.
